Topic: Twin Peaks - S3

Anybody Jicks boardies in on the new Twin Peaks return?

Idk. I figured people who like Malkmus' music would like something like Twin Peaks. Binged watched all 4 new episodes last night.

My vote: Pretty good

Watching the first 4 tonight!

Can't wait!

I'll letcha know.

now, they're gonna burn me....

Re: Twin Peaks - S3

Watched the first two. My vote so far: exceptional. Definitely dark, but I think you have to expect that. Those who are bummed that it's not as light as the original series I think will get some of that comedy in the upcoming episodes, but I could be wrong. Can't wait to watch the next two smile

Re: Twin Peaks - S3

301 and 302 are dark and weird for sure. 303 and 304 are starting to feel a little more familiar. They have a lot of old and new characters scattered everywhere, but I feel like it's slowly going to all come back to Twin Peaks.

But Twin Peaks has always been a dark show. It's all about duality; sweet and sour (cherry pie, TWIN peaks, etc...)

This is looking like it's going to be Lynch, at his unfiltered strangest.

Re: Twin Peaks - S3

So the last thing I remember about Twin Peaks is they were in a cave, found some crazy shit on the wall and then it was over. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and whether if I go back and watch it all I'll ever find out what happened. It was a cliffhanger that's left me hanging for waaaaaaaaaaay too long.

Equal parts vim and vigor

Re: Twin Peaks - S3

Hey Lloyd--there was some crazy shit that happened after the cave. I'd rewatch the season finale of season 2 at the very least to get a handle on season 3. wink

Re: Twin Peaks - S3

It's almost as if you don't need to know anything about the original two seasons, to be able to watch this third one. Yeah, it helps, of course, but you can kinda just watch it, and enjoy it on it's own. There's a few things, but I think I'm going to have my girlfriend watch it, and see if she can make ANY sense of it. Hahahahaha! Lynch is Lynch, still. That is for sure.

The first four have got me HYPED, though. I am brimming with excitement, for more and more and more!!!!

I really want to be able to speak more freely, with no spoiler worries. But how!? Ugh....

The cave contains a map to the lodge. Coop found the lodge, and when he got out, he wasn't right, to say the very least.

S3 is a continuation of the finale, 25yrs later. It's going to tie it all together.

Also fattyma4, I must disagree. You could always just start on S3 just for the hell of it, some people might get a kick out of it. But those who have no idea about the characters or the story are going to be very lost.

First 4 are looking pretty good. Too bad though, that if you binged all 4 on the first night, you have to wait until june 5th for ep 5.

I'm not sure what the spoiler policy should be for this thread. As far as the first 2 original seasons go, I think that's game. Everyone has had, literally, two and a half decades to catch up.

Re: Twin Peaks - S3

i have been saving my 30-day free trial of the showtime app for this. now i just need to find time to watch! i re-watched the first two seasons a couple years ago when they started talking about this re-boot. pretty pumped!

Re: Twin Peaks - S3

i'm pretty sure they're not releasing any of the episodes in advance (after those first 4), so if you only have a 30 day trial you'd better wait until they're all out to start it

and yeah, i love this season.  i also agree with whomever said that watching this without being familiar with the original would not be a good choice.  in fact, i'd say if there are people who watched the tv show but never watched fire walk with me, they should get on that too.  because this new season has way more shit from FWWM than i had anticipated (and the movie is also more in line with the new season tonally, probably, than the original show).  hell, they're referencing stuff in the show now that is from the FWWM deleted scenes!  but yeah, i don't get the "it's too dark now!" complaints.  (spoilers for the original ahead) the show was, at it's core, about a guy who routinely raped his daughter until he finally murdered her.  it was never "light"

Re: Twin Peaks - S3

Aparece ese chabón, Wally Brando, absolutamente rayado, y dice:

"My family, my friend, I have criss-crossed this great land of ours countless times. I hold a map of it here, in my heart next to the joyful memories of the carefree days I spent as a young boy here in your beautiful town of Twin Peaks. From Alexandria, Virginia to Stockton, California. I think about Lewis and his friend Clark, the first Caucasians to see this part of the world; their footsteps have been the highways and byways of my days on the road."

Re: Twin Peaks - S3

That Wally speech was great.

That FWWM cover is correct;  Sheryl Lee is a criminally underrated actress. Same with Ray Wise, he really should have gotten an award for his work on Twin Peaks.

Ep. 5 last night. It keeps getting weirder. I'm having a hard time keeping track of all of the nee characters.

Last night's episode was soooooooooooooooooo good. And creepy. Kyle Maclachlan in his new roles are extraordinary. This series just keeps delivering.

big_smile so many more clues---they're setting it up for a lot of loose ends to tie up, but it is hard to not want more Doppleganger Coop when last week was so satisfying. Come to think of it--last nights episode was satisfying, but I think mostly in ways that will become more clear in repeated viewings (especially after future episodes have become available). I have a lot of theories/ideas beginning to form, not unlike Dougie Coops cognition. smile

IT JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER, AND BETTER, EVERY SINGLE EPISODE!!!!

Really, Ep.06 wasn't my favorite. Not gonna lie. However, it was crucial, and there's the clues, and turning points, pivots, and excitement around every corner!!!!

Re: Twin Peaks - S3

yeah i have to admit i'm sort of obsessed right now.  just finished the book, too, so i'm glad carl was in this one (since the book revealed some things about his past).  and i guess they're saying he simply opened a new trailer park to explain why it's so close to twin peaks all of a sudden?  yet it still shows the same pole from fwwm?  whatever, i love it

Re: Twin Peaks - S3

Yeah this is legit. I'm up thru ep 8 now.

Wally Brando was just fucking delightful.

This show can be exhausting because you never know if any given scene is a random kitchy side-story (tho I still think maybe those gold shovels make an appearance later?) or the one crucial piece of information that elucidates the whole thing.

Re: Twin Peaks - S3

This new season is a lot different than what S1 and S2 were back in the 90's. Seems a lot tighter and more deliberate; everything is important. I'm thinking that the "gold shit digging shovels" are going to at least be a clue of some sort, tying into the main plot.

Anyway, looks like we're about halfway through. My prediction is that things are going to start coming together. We're going to get out of the Dakota's and Vegas, and head back to Twin Peaks.

Then again who knows wtf is going to happen.
