Since you brought it up, let's talk about it briefly. I'm not the biggest arcade fire fan or aficionado, but I like some songs off of the suburbs. They've never been my "jam" per se. But I checked out the everything now record, & it's hard for me to listen to. Something about it seems so ingenuine and vapid. It's uninviting to listen to. The lyrics just feel out of place, clumsy, and lazy, and the way Butler rap-sings them... the whole thing makes me feel uneasy while I'm listening, which is something that's hard to find in a record.
That's how I feel about Arcade Fire all the time. There's usually a song or two that are strong, then the rest seems not genuine, and uninviting to me. Often I find myself feeling sorry for Butler in a strange way that I am not accustomed to when listening to music.
