I`m glad you were the first, i was too ashamed of myself to say. I normally dislike  his releases from the off...only to grow in to classic status after a few listens.

This though has only moved up 1 notch when others moved up a lot more ...Oh well there`s plenty time yet

This track feels so Face the Truth to me, whatever that means.

Great Song.

Re: is there already a thread about ‘middle america’?

I think it's a really good song, but it seems an odd choice for a single. I can definitely imagine it at home and perfect in the midst of a full album, like a Vague Space kinda pace-changer.

usernamechris, never apologize/apologise to the Jix board. It is not necessary!

I felt like this isn't too far afield from "Lariat" which was the lead single last go-round.

I always think it's a shame when usernamechris deletes his posts. Not just because it makes our responses seem very strange and outta context, but because he has a lot of interesting things to say. Yo Chris: It's OK to be vulnerable and to say things that may even in hindsight seem a little silly or god forbid, embarrassing. We're all friends here and we like having you around smile

I agree. Also is the melody not almost exactly the same as Loud Cloud Crowd in places? Not that I care!

I always liked usernamechris.

Re: is there already a thread about ‘middle america’?

it looked like a video was shot for this..the clip from their instagram account seemed like a snippet pf a music video but nothing has come of it. shame. from what i saw, Malkmus standing on a turret, reminded me of some of the great George Harrison clips (cracker box palace era harrison)

I distinctly Remember pulling same move on sM RET Zona Rosa — was standing in front of a couple of people and if I looked between them, I could see Steph standing behind the stage before joggers came on - right when I got him into my view, it was as if he could feel me looking at him and he looked straight at me through the people and it was too much and I ducked! I swear that really happened !- was still sober too- would seem absurd to assume S remembers this, but I do — had to say something in regards to the video clip.

No comments necessary, because this will disappear jk

I'm memorializing this.

I get it, sen.

Dude..I always thought you were in your 40s...you are well past the age you should be now.

Re: is there already a thread about ‘middle america’?

Still messing with this — a grower deff — I like the simple lines that stand out because of thoughtful delivery — good song

12-string!

Re: is there already a thread about ‘middle america’?

Sweet! That 12-er sounds pretty great.

Re: is there already a thread about ‘middle america’?

Pulled that one off quite nicely - simple arrangement, but still has gravity to it - playing acoustic on video seems tough to do

Re: is there already a thread about ‘middle america’?

So, this song sure seems like a reflection on the generation that brought us POTUS 45. Makes me wonder if that makes Baby Boomer Nights more or less likely to be on the new record. Like, is having it on the record too much of the same theme, or does it tie together nicely?

Sonically they are different approaches.

Re: is there already a thread about ‘middle america’?

I adored this song on first listen. I've failed to follow through on my intention to curtail repeat listens so that the song is still relatively fresh when the album comes out. Great tune & lyrics, and one of my favorite vocal performances.

Did you see that image where they are in Croatia? If anyone ever wanted any more proof that the Jicks are educational and counterculturally inclined, here it is! Just look at Joanna's demonstration of an S shape, but left turned to right and right turned to left. Ah, oh, some, band, alright!

i just thought they were playing mini golf    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Re: is there already a thread about ‘middle america’?

Finally heard this on the radio today.

I self-medicate with drugs and alcohol to help treat my extreme social anxiety.

Re: is there already a thread about ‘middle america’?

I really love this song but I confess, it's made me outright tear up and cry it out a couple of times. Weaves dappled strands of shadow and light.

Re: is there already a thread about ‘middle america’?

I picked up my guitar for the first time in too long this past weekend.

Anyone attempted to tab out this tune from the acoustic video? 2 years ago it looks like it'd have been an easy one for me to figure out, now I'm starting over.
