Re: Parquet Courts

I like the new album a lot--but that pic still has me wondering now...

Its just a nice little trinket of America.  I don't endorse the message, yet somehow I'm comforted that it exist.  I have shot a gun before, and I understand the appeal.

Andrew

So whatever that means..

Ha! Same here and he gave me the exact same answer!

"nice little trinket of America", understanding the appeal of firing a gun, "comforted that it exist" sounds kinda clueless to me but then again, I'm not american. Happy that he doesn't endorse the message but it all leaves a bad taste in my mouth...

Re: Parquet Courts

Yeah right?
what the hell is this trinket crap?
you don't need to be american to understand this...
maybe the dude as a little Palin/Ted Nugent in him and is just trying not to publicly commit.
Too many cowboys in this here town...
have a hard time with these right wing rockers..
seems to be an oxymoron..

Re: Parquet Courts

Been keeping my mouth buttoned on this bc I know ppl here like them, BUT Always thought this band was kinda Cracker Jack (Cracker Jack as in school boy) - I do not understand the Paves comparison - thought they sounded more like Shellac, anyways. . .

Re: Parquet Courts

love the band.  last record was an 8.5/10 for me.  new record is a 7.0

the shirt is fucking stupid, but they are from texas, so I'm sure he has a little residual brainwashing ingrained into his psyche.

there are plenty of musicians that take the left-wing liberal stance a little too far for me also. (like being a vegan?  fuck that)

So i just enjoy the tunes.

disclosure: I grew up in Alabama and the second amendment is the one I'd repeal if given the choice.
and while I'm quashing the stereotypes,  I'd also like to say that there's no god, whether you believe or not!

Re: Parquet Courts

Gods don't kill people, people with Gods kill people..

it always felt that rock music or whatever came from the left side of things as it started as rebel music and that is the root going back to the delta players..
the 60s made it quite left and that is the trunk...
then there was Bob Seager and that Nugent twinkie..bad branches
now its a soap commercial...deforestation

Re: Parquet Courts

so.... finally getting around to this after being full immersed with the new jicks, tim burgess, and gaz coombes.

I like it a lot.  bit of a departure.  but still 100% parkay.  having trouble really loving it.  maybe more listens...... "tenderness" being the easy stand out.  The A. Brown songs aren't doing much for me, which are usually on point.  although the riff for "Mardi" is fun.

how about you folk?

Re: Parquet Courts

I’m diggin’ it. Got my pre-order on the Tuesday before release date (Jicks pre-order didn’t arrive until actual release date). Point is, I had a couple of days to get into before Jicks took over.

Brown’s songs are definitely more sedate, still good. Damn fine record that I’ll be playing a lot.

Re: Parquet Courts

I like these guys, but not really liking them live now. Overly shouted vocals
