Topic: sparkle hard chords / tab

I know nomnomnom put some solid silk stuff in another thread but figured it'd be cool to have everything in one place. Please, additions, corrections, etc., bring 'em.

I'm hugely (HUGELY) out of practice so I'm approaching this from the basics, playing along with a bass to figure out the root notes and just messing around.

Cast Off is a super fun bass part btw!

CAST OFF

C
Cast off from the shadows
G                          F
Cast from from the Bricks when they fall

C           D
Say it to me
F             C
   eloquently, there's
G                                       F
No one left to do everything that you said you'd do

Re: sparkle hard chords / tab

Cool idea! I'm so out of shape in this area I don't have much help to offer. But if you put code tags around tabbed areas it keeps alignment. This is my contribution... Hahaha.

Re: sparkle hard chords / tab

Yeah, I’ve kinda dropped out of the music world. I quit my band last fall, played our last show in October and the Jicks opener was the first show I’ve been to since. I have a band’s worth of instruments set up in my basement but the playing has been painfully infrequent.

As for the tabs, I’ll let the smarter people mess with that. and the tunings.

Re: sparkle hard chords / tab

Try these moves:

E  -   -   -  -  -   -   -  -  -   -   -   -   x -  - x
B  -  -    -  -  -   -   -  -  -   -   -   -   2 -  - 0
G  4  4  2  2  0  0  -  -  -   -   -   -   2 - -  0
D  -  -   -   -   -   -  4  4  2  2  0  0  2 -  - 0
G  -  -  -    -  -   -   -   -   -   -   -  -  2 -  - 0
C  -  -  -   -   -   -    -  -   -   -   -   - x -  -  x

Make up an innocent average girl   ...  knows..so amazing

E  -   -   -  -  -   -   -  -  -   -   -   -   x -  - x  - - x

E - 7 - - 9 - - - 10- -12 - 14- - -17 - 14- -17 - -2 - -
B - 8 - - 10 - -  8- - 10- -12 - - - - - - - - - - - - 2 - -

I'll write out middle section later, the guitar at work is untunable due to a missing machine
head and it's doing my head in to try and play along our of tune. I'm pretty sure it's
just a handful of barre chords.

Nearly done with future suite, which I think is in CGDGAD. Looks like he's returning to the
RET era tunings after a spell in open D?

Good idea, heres a repost od solid silk from the other thread

This is almost as good as my last signature.

Re: sparkle hard chords / tab

Wish I had noted guitar changes along with the other night's set list, would've helped. Someone please do this for an upcoming show? I'm pretty sure he started in CGDGBE and used the Guild as such for Cast Off and Bike Lane. From there I don't recall.

Thanks NNN!

I didn’t pay any attention at all either Nathan. FWIW cast off definitely works in cgdgbe

Re: sparkle hard chords / tab

I've been messing around with "Future Suite", and since seeing this particular South Carolina video of it, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcaJsFS70Fk this is what I've come up with....

CGDGBE
*No solos or leads, yet.*

VERSE
x4x44x, x2x22x, x1x10x, 44645x
x4x44x, x6645x, x9x99x, x9x97x

x4x44x, 22423x, 44645x

CHORUS-ish
667x7x, 44645x

....and, so on and so forth. Hope the way I wrote it makes sense. Ha!

It's a start, at least! Maybe I'll mess with the soloing sooner or later.

now, they're gonna burn me....

Re: sparkle hard chords / tab

I keep waiting for this thread to heat up.

Isn’t this particular video not of “Future Suite?” That said, this is a delightful video.

according to this math you'll be waiting a long long time....

people don't change...

Re: sparkle hard chords / tab

I cannot remember if I mentioned this, but it just popped back into my head.

Steve, as usual, did not use a pick in Detroit (early June). In Cincy, he was using a pick for part of the show, which was noticeable because he dropped it.

That is rather funny, if I did, indeed, include the incorrect link.
Oops!
Sorry!

*EDIT*
It is the correct link, according to my computer. Ha!
Maybe something even stranger happened? I'm not sure. But, I just checked it, and it worked for me....

I don’t know up from down right now but I do know:
A) The person(s) who filmed this has a good eye AND grace.
B) The giving of music that night was so kind and full and true.
C) That being at that show was pure delight, so much so I’m reeling still.
