Topic: CBS This Morning

SM/Jicks are playing on this show tomorrow morning. I think the bands usually play two songs. Probably only one of the hosts has hit menopause.

Re: CBS This Morning

This is the only time I anticipate DVR'ing CBS This Morning. Or watching it at all, really.

Re: CBS This Morning

I dont want to start a new thread for this, but malk just got a shout out on HQ. the answer was kindling and scott started singing kindling for the master

the boy your mother wanted you to meet

Re: CBS This Morning

explain Bob..what's HQ and who is Scott? For those of us living in Australia!

Re: CBS This Morning

HQ is an app-based online trivia show that happens live every day, twice a day (?). It's free to play. There are 12 questions each game. You're in the game until you answer incorrectly. At the end of the game, if 100 people are left standing, the money for that game is split amongst them.

Devotees are H-Cuties.

Or Something.

Re: CBS This Morning

So awesome of you to post those, jicksjoosment!

Those clips are so lovely, they did great! Nice studio adaptations for a TV audience, too. Steve had a deft touch in his interview, very charming!

Re: CBS This Morning

Man, he is infinitely more charming these days.

Re: CBS This Morning

He really has loosened up a lot. His past interviews were very laconic, with some dry humor peppered in here and there. They still are, but he's a lot more open and engaging these days. I really, really, like it.

Re: CBS This Morning

Finally got to watch these too....I was right behind that camera guy for the Brooklyn footage.  WAs wondering what they were recording for and why they left 1/3 into the show.  Now it all makes sense

Re: CBS This Morning

I watched the DVR recording I took of it... they played Middle America but it got cut off as the show ended. Wonder if they filmed the full thing.

Re: CBS This Morning

My five year old is really into Sparkle Hard. We watched the recording of the CBS set together, including the interview. He's watching the interview with rapt attention. He's never heard Malkmus being interviewed before, and I think this was kind of like the first time that he realized that music on a recording was not some sort of abstract magic, but that it was made by people, and it was made by "real" people -- SM on the screen being interviewed doesn't look like a "famous" person, he looks like this kid's dad and his dad's friends. So I really think that this is why he was suddenly soaked into the interview.

Anyways, that's the setup. The kid is just completely lost in this interview, concentrating deeply. The CBS guy asks Malkmus about getting sick, losing his voice, and how singers have to deal with that when they're on the road. And as everyone here knows, Malk's answer was, "People know that I'm not the best singer anyway..."

My son was INCREDULOUS. He broke from his trance -- "But that's impossible!" // "Uhh uhh uhh why would anyone think he's not the best singer?" // "Why would he say that he's not a good singer? He's such a good singer!"
